Take-Two Says No Wii GTAIV

gtawii.jpg

Take-Two released its numbers for the fourth quarter, but since numbers aren't really my thing (I hated math in school), all I can tell is that sales dipped, but they still did very well. I mean, having a game like BioShock leading the charge can't hurt.

No, the interesting stuff came when the company announced its plans for the future. In a conference call with investors, Take-Two revealed that in addition to the previously-announced Grand Theft Auto IV content for the Xbox 360, 2009 will bring new episodic content for the 360. There were no details about what the content might be, but I am intrigued by the absence of any mention of PS3 downloadable content.

Take-Two also has plans for the Wii, including a port of PS2 hit boy-kissing simulator Bully (wait, you could do other things in that game?) and the in-development Don King Presents: Prizefighter, which as a boxing game is a natural for the Wiimote/Nunchuck controls. They also declared that they are shifting from a "non-Nintendo shop into one as focused on Nintendo as any other platform." Well, I guess a ridiculously best-selling console will change that opinion, I guess.

However, despite the presence of games like Godfather: Blackhand Edition and Manhunt 2, Take-Two insists they have no inention of bringing GTA IV to the Wii. Is that because the Wii simply can't handle the port? Because it can't be about putting a mature game on a Nintendo console. Manhunt 2 already proved they were willing to do that. Oh well, guess Wii owners will have to settle for garroting prisoners instead of smacking hookers with a bat.

Damn, that sucks and sucks hard. Hopefully by then though, I'll have a non-overheating/dieing 360, mainly for Ghostbusters, but for other things as well.

I feel kinda bad that there'll be no GTA on the Wii, but I also have to admit in all honesty that GTA is not a game I would have bought for my own Wii.

Well that isn't a total letdown. Most of the "hardcore" gamers I know own a Wii as well as one of the other systems.

I have a 360 I will play GTA 4 on, so the Wii isn't that much of a dissapointment...

What I would like to see is GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas ported to the Wii with new content and Wiimote support... as well as GameCube/Classic Controller support for those not wanting new controls.

That would be -ideal- in the Wii. I would buy that in a hot second.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
