Sonic The Hedgehog Coming To iPod

StH_Sonic.png

Love him or hate him, that hyped-up blue hedgehog, Sonic, is here to stay. In fact, he's moving to your iPod. Appearing on the iPod Classic, video Nano, or 5th-gen iPod, Sonic the Hedgehog has, naturally, been designed specifically for the iPod and will cost $4.99 in iTunes.

"Sonic The Hedgehog is one of the most beloved video game characters of all time," said; Simon Jeffery, President and COO of SEGA of America, "And with the installed base that iPod enjoys Sonic now becomes available to a whole new group of casual and hardcore gamers just in the time for the holidays."

Hardcore? Debatable. But then the whole concept of hardcore-ness is endlessly debatable itself. More important are the click-wheel controls: am I going to have to give myself neuropathy just to get Sonic up to speed?

I never was a Sonic fan, but even the hardcore enthusiast must get bored out of his mind by the umpteenth version of the same game they made us pay for 16 years ago. And the industry is wondering why mobile games on anything other than proper consoles sell like poop on a haystack...
