Sessler Talks New Position, Show, Image

In GameDaily's weekly end-of-week piece, Media Coverage, Kyle Orland had a chance to speak with Adam Sessler, the recently-named Managing Editor, Games Editorial for G4. Orland inquires about the pending changes coming to X-Play and the decline in image of G4 as a gaming network.
Putting X-Play on five days a week, so we're actually going to be relevant, I think is a pretty significant step to try to show that games are definitely a focus of the network, if not the focus of the network. I think that will do a lot.
While I had initially gotten away from G4 some years ago, I have been watching the network more and more due to X-Play and reruns of Cops and Arrested Development -- not to mention the endlessly amusing Ninja Warrior. I'm glad to see that X-Play continues grow as a centerpiece for the network. Be sure to read Orland's full interview with Sessler for the full scoop on what's coming!

I don't watch g4 much anymore since it was tech tv. How does anyone deny that its main focus is gaming.
Because half the stuff on there these days has nothing to do with gaming.
X-play is about the only thing I still watch on G4.
You'd think Sessler would realize X-play is already on 5 days a week (in a 2-episode, hour long block) and has been for years now.
I've loved G4 since watching I developed a tv- crush on the screen savers co-host, Patrick.
Like everyone, I was really skeptical of the changes of image the network had at first, but I think the way X-play and Attack of the Show turned out are great: Incredibly relevant to an incredibly relevant niche of pop culture today. Also, they are both randomly really well written and funny.
I think anyone who enjoys this website should at least check out X-play and AOTS. They're great and basically the only shows on TV that speak to the geek/gaming subculture.
G4 hosts all have the collective personality of a jar of rancid mayonaise. And their snarky, sarcastic "trying to be cutting edge" attempts at humor drive me nuts. Attack of the Show never seems to cover any news I care about, and Xplay doesn't review any games I give a shit about. I liked it better when it was TechTV and I could see them do some gadget coverage or how-to stuff.
It wouldn't be so bad if they were actually funny. But they come off as stuck up, unpleasant, douche bags.
Loves me some Ninja Warrior though. Thems some hunky boys on that "Rolling Log". And you can't go wrong with ST:TNG and AD. I wouldn't watch the channel at all if it weren't for these shows.
Maybe it's just me, but I always get bad vibes from Sessler. He seems like a pretty loud, vulgar and choleric kind of guy. Would not like to be interviewed on a controversial topic by him.
Saw Sessler at the Weho Best Buy a couple months ago with his, I assume, girlfriend. I was shocked to see him purchasing some video games (he was in line behind me). I'd imagine they'd have tons of swag at their offices, but perhaps not?
Regardless G4 is a mediocre network. I enjoy X-play, AOTS and Code Monkeys - that is, when I find myself looking through the guide and seeing that they are on at that moment, otherwise I can live without them.
