No More Wii Ads In The UK For Christmas

Nintendo have finally realized that running so many Wii ads in the UK pre-Christmas is just rubbing salt in the wounds of those poor souls still out searching for one.
For all the committed gift buyers who are waiting in line for hours, calling every single store they know and desperately trying to bribe anyone with a Wii to sell them it, this comes as at least some relief. The shortage of Wii's in the UK has become so insane that the lucky shops who do get them in stock are selling out within minutes and often have people waiting outside on delivery trucks arriving. Prices on eBay are sky-rocketing and it seems that Nintendo have finally admitted they just can't meet demand. A Nintendo spokesman stated that it was time for them to act responsibly and ensure that they would 'not fuel demand' by continuing to run the TV ads, but it's still not going to help out those desperately trying to get their hands on a Wii console.
On the upside, there are plenty of DS's out there, so if you can convince whoever you're buying the present for that it's just a pre-cursor to a Wii, maybe you'll still be gifted some Christmas cheer from them - it's unlikely, but you never know.

Ya know, when they announced this for the U.S. market I thought it was responsible, but then I noticed that all the marketing for the Wii games are essentially marketing for the console as much as the game (especially with the Nintendo in-house games). I think Nintendo's as much full of BS as any other company trying to maintain frenzied momentum in the marketplace.
