No More Haematophilia: Suda 51 Says Blood Gotta Go.

It was announced last week that No More Heroes would be blood free in the UK. This came as some what of a shock to some. Gratuitous violence has been a hot ticket for the game industry, and the UK has been no exception.
Grasshopper CEO Suda 51 followed up this announcement, stating it was their decision to remove the carnage from the european release.
First, let me say how honoured I am that everyone in Europe is expecting No More Heroes.The sales point of this game is action. Both I and Wada san have concentrated on making the best possible action game for the Nintendo Wii. We have chosen to release in Europe the same version as has shipped in Japan considering the broadly growing Wii market.
My guess is that with all the controversy surrounding Manhunt 2 and other similarly violent video games and Europe's aggressive rating system on harsh imagery, Grasshopper decided to nip-it-in-the-bud before the game could be evaluated. We cannot forget the press surrounding a similarly adult grasshopper title, Killer 7.
The US and Japan will remain unaffected, so all you wacky gun-toting testosterone driven man's men can still get all your hot bloody action this February.

Pssst... the Japanese version didn't have blood to begin with.
Just a note.
I think the thing that is interesting here is how consciously non-realistic the gore was depicted in US trailers when compared with other games. I mean, is the violence in something like Manhunt 2 or Heavenly Sword(s) actually comparable to that displayed in No More Heroes? Each of these games feature tons of blood and gore, but NMH's choice of visuals made it look like something a lot closer to Pollock painting rather than a photographic display of violence.
And if something as decidedly "nonrealistic" as this is getting altered for euro release, what does this mean for games like Ninja Gaiden 2, which features some of the most realistically detailed beheadings on consoles?

Um... NO.

@Game-Boi
If something like this gets edited for Euro release, I can imagine that something like Ninja Gaiden 2 probably would get edited as well.
I like how he gives his little comment, but doesn't feel the need to explain why then the American version did need the blood in it.
Score 1 for idiots in the gaming industry.
Noun:
There's no blood in the Japanese version. Instead in the UK and Japanese versions of the game enemies fountain black ash, instead of red blood. A minor difference in all.

Um... That's the US version.
