CVG Lists Best/Worst Box Art Of The Year

dealornodeal.jpg

To paraphrase the old aphorism, maybe you can't judge a game by its cover, but at least they give us something to chuckle at now and then. Computer and Video Games has its list of the best and worst game covers of the year, with high profile games on both sides. The Orange Box, Halo 3, and Metroid Prime 3 get lumped in with the fuglies, while Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, and Uncharted all have their choice of dates to the prom. Note that CVG is a British publication, so some of the box art (like the gorgeous Resident Evil 4 for the Wii) is for pal territories only.

As an aside, is that guy to the right really the host of Deal or No Deal in the UK? I'm sure he's got a great personality, but I never thought I'd see the day when Howie Mandel (the American host of the game) would be the more appealing choice.

Any personal nominees? Feel free to share them below or check out this NeoGAF thread for more notable covers from 2007.

Yep, that's Noel Edmonds there on the DS Boxart who is the host of 'Deal or No Deal' here in the UK.
Kind of a big comeback show for him as he hadn't done anything for ten years. He started out in radio in the 70's and then was a kids presenter, then a prime time Saturday night show in the nineties called 'Noel's House Party' that was truely awful.
Shame he had to come back really.

Aye, that's Noel Edmonds. He's not a bad host for the show, actually. But I can't stand the show itself. He's a decent host, but tends to flirt excessively with some of the contestants.
In fact, I was a contestant on his previous show once, and some of the chatter he had going with some of the women on set was just... *shudder*
He once stated that he felt that he was entirely personally responsible for the dumbing down of British television over the 1990s. Thinking a bit much of himself?
Damn I hate Deal or No Deal. And his new show, Are you smarter than a 10 year old, just utterly awful.

The PAL cover for RE4 is amazing. I shall have to find a high-res version somewhere and print out a custom cover for my copy...

The Cover Project has a pretty good list of downloadable covers from all regions. They've got the B&W PAL cover, as well as another decent PAL cover from Germany. Don't know the exact resolution, but it might be a good place to start.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
