CompUSA Closing Down

compusastorefront.jpg

CompUSA, that chain of tech-store which never seems to have anyone either helpful or knowledgable whenever I shop there, is shutting down. Now, I'm trying not to take too much delight in this fact. Some of you might've noticed that a number of their stores shut down earlier this year in a desperate effort to help keep the company afloat, but apparently it just wasn't enough:

It was only 10 months ago when CompUSA first announced that it would close over half of its retail stores as part of its retrenchment strategy. At the time, CompUSA CEO Roman Ross said that changing conditions in the retail electronics market caused the company to close stores with "low performance or nonstrategic, old store layouts, and locations faced with market saturation."

That situation apparently didn't get any better, despite the company's $440 million cash infusion in February. Gordon Brothers Group will "initiate an orderly wind-down" of CompUSA's remaining 103 stores and plans to sell select stores in key markets. The firm also plans to sell CompUSA's tech service business, CompUSA TechPro, and CompUSA.com. Retail locations that are not sold will simply be closed

So, what does this mean for you? Insanely good deals which are brought about by the company liquidating their stock. As soon as I get home, I'm doing some more Christmas shopping for some more games and other tech stuff.

Thank GOD! I have hated CompUSA since they denied my return of a defective video card when the "tech" stated that I overclocked my videocard...because it "smelt burnt".....my bf at the time was an IT manager and his roommate was in IT as well...I never overclocked the card...we wanted a manager, but the stupid arse just agreed with the tard tech... even with reports from ATi from my phone calls to their tech support (tier 3 mind you) that stated "your card is defective...take it back to the retailer for a replacement." That was about 4 years ago and I never shopped there since...btw ATi RMA'd the card no questions asked...obviously cus they told me it was DEFECTIVE! HA this serves CompUSA right!

My father used to work for CompUSA, but I still hated going there. CompUSA was the only place I've had a worse customer service experience than BestBuy.

CompUSA was my first job. Some of the ninnies I delt with didn't make it any better.

They didn't have any stores in my area, and I think I've maybe been to one once while visiting friends out of state, but from the sound of it I'm not missing much.

Though I will miss the one stop mega computer shop...I won't miss NEVER getting anyone to help me. Not sure where we should shop now for those things but hopefully something new will come up in its place.

My brother used to be an associate at CompUSA.He worked customer service, and hated it. Because whenever he tried to help a customer or get someone to help them, no-one would come or there was a lack of caring in helping the customer.

Thank the lord it totally does serve them right, i used to go there and their specials were all over priced and never had anything in stock. when it came to an actual computer part like eide cables they were always out. Radioshack is better if u find one that only does electronic and bestbuy and circuit city for everything else.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
