Video: PS3 Ads Get Weirder (still!)

In case the doll baby from the initial ad campaign wasn't freaky enough for you, check out Sony's latest series of ads. No gameplay footage. Just weirdness on top of weirdness. The wireframe woman that comes to life is probably the creepiest, but you can make the jump to see another two. The cowboys makes sense because I can see the point they're going for, but I'm going to be having nightmares about the gold man and the ballet dancer.

Sadly i have to say these are more clever than the previous ones....
They have less confusing elements, and they are somewhat original.

Still... "Games that move you in mysterious ways"? what the hell is that suposed to mean....

The first two can easily be related to the Ps3, but they still need the gameplay footage as a finishing blow...

the third id just crap...

And the whole "cirque du soleil" looks don't really fit with the ps3.

Face it sony... you got ONE excellent art comercial with lynch, now let it go.

I think these commercials are fantastic. They're so weird that I can't help but love them. And I'm a Cirque du Soleil fan, so I totally dig that last one.

What basically makes a commercial good is not if you like it but if it makes you want to buy the thing, and these are not only awful, ugly, uninspired and awkward, but they make anyone wanna stay far away from a PS3. Sony is not to be pitied for its current situation, they simply lost it. I guess this business goes by cycles: Nintendo was up, Nintendo was down, Nintendo is up again. It's to assume that it's Sony's turn to be down. Why so often companies seem to have troubles with handling success? Just. Don't. Try. Your. Public.

This sorta explains why Sony (at least SCEA) ditched their Ad company just yesterday....

And cute as some of the Cirque boys are, I stopped watching their programs after they fired one of their acrobats for being HIV+

These are European ads, not SCEA.
SCEA "tried" abstract with those please-can-we-never-speak-of-those-crying baby ads.
Didn't work. Hence the new direction for the US.
SCEE - well, they're a different breed with their marketing, that's for sure.
A year in to the PS3's life, with games like Uncharted, Warhawk, Ratchet&Clank, not to mention all the third party titles, and this is what they come up with? With no footage? It may win advertising awards, but like Santosuke said, it doesn't exactly inspire the masses nor give them a reason to go out and pick one up.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
