Thompson Punks Self With Bogus GDC Claim
GamePolitics has the skinny on bogeyman Jack "Crazier Than Thou" Thompson, whose latest caper involves misidentifying bite-sized sexpot & composer Tommy Tallarico (right)as GDC director Jamil Moledina(left), and then somehow misinterpreting a nonexistent invitation to continue his VGXPO debate at GDC. Says Thompson:
This past Saturday I journeyed to the Pennsylvania Convention Center and debated Lorne Lanning, an iconic figure in the video game industry, on the very issues that spawned the Blank Rome/Take-Two SLAPP Bar complaints against me...
...In the audience [for] this event, unbeknownst to me, was the man who organizes the largest video game gathering in the world, the Game Developers Conference (GDC), attended by 20,000 folks…Because of the quality and coherence of my presentation, I was then asked by the GDC to reprise the Philadelphia debate, this time in February in San Francisco in a 5000 seat arena, as the keynote event.
Isn't Tommy a hottie? He can be my Peter Pan any day. Maybe JT was bewitched by the twinkle in Tommy's pond-dark eyes? Regardless of the source of Thompson's daydreams, daydreams they remain - according to the GDC:
“The Game Developers Conference has not extended an invitation to Jack Thompson to speak at GDC 2008,” Jamil Moledina, executive director, Game Developers Conference, said. “We look forward to announcing the full speaker lineup closer to the show.”

Fruit Brute and I caught VGL at GDC and both cried twice - but not at the Tallarico. Never the Tallarico.

I've never been to VGL, but I've seen clips of Tommy at VGL. Seemed like a class act to me. I don't get how he's tool fillerbunny9. You don't even elaborate.
I don't known Tommy in person. Only online. He's always treated me with nothing but the upmost respect. I've seen him host the Electric Playground. He has his opinions on games, that I don't always agree with, but I'm not sure that makes him a tool. Because he speaks his mind?
He created VGL. A video game concert. Where we as gamers can come together and be treated to, not only wonderfully orchestrated music, but a history lesson in gaming, contest and all around fun. Yeah what a tool that Tommy is, *rolls eyes*
I gotta agree with fillerbunny on this one. I've never met Mr Tallarico personally and he's probably a great guy.
But if I'm watching a show on video games, I want to watch video games, not someone's attempt at self-referential humor.
So, what fillerbunny9 and Ducky are saying is that just because someone acts a certain way on stage or TV means that is who they are in person!?

Tommy is probably one of the nicest and most approachable professionals in the industry. Please don't let a part on a TV show or a few jokes on stage (of a concert he created) effect your view of him as a person or as an artist.
You all have to remember that Tommy is a video game composer and designer above all else. It's a shame that people can be so mean and unfairly judge someone they don't know in person.
Just some things to think about.
I remember seeing Tommy Tallarico on a videogame review show some years back and I have to say he was arrogant and abrasive to the point that I didn't want to watch anymore. Of course, I don't know the guy in real life so I don't know if he's actually like that or not, so I'm not saying he's a bad guy or anything. And I could totally see how television producers might want him to act "edgy" or something. But if that really is what he's like, then yeah I'd have to say that fillerbunny has a point. Also the fact that everything he is involved with seems to turn into the Tommy Tallarico show, and is about him first and whatever else second, is rather off-putting.

Come on guys! You can do better. What really bugs you about Tommy? Is it the attention he gets? Perhaps he's the spawn of Satan. Muawahaha!!! hehe. Gimmie a break! You guys don't even know why you hate'em. It's just more fun to hate I guess.
