Rock Band In Short Supply, Get In Line Now, Blah Blah Blah

Last night I went to a sold-out club show here in Chicago. The crowd was lame - rude, loud, pushy - and the band missed soundcheck so they started 45 minutes late. They played fine, but the venue's sound (and layout) sucks, they skipped two of the best songs from their new record, and possibly worst of all, ended the show with an encore of probably my least favorite song they've ever recorded. So yeah, not exactly the show of the year, in my mind. Now EA's fake Rock Band is pissing me off almost as much as the real one last night. Damn you, CEO John Riccitiello:
If I were you, on the nineteenth of November, I would get in line outside your favourite retailer, because we've got one hot product.
Are you kidding me? If I'm willing to shell out $170 for an untested property, should I really have to get up early and stand in line some cold November morning just to be the first to play Enter Sandman on an ugly hunk of plastic? Or maybe I'm stuck preordering months in advance, before the price is set in stone or the final set list is released.
OK, breathe. Breathe. Really, the gist of the statement is Riccitiello hyping the new brand for investors in the wake of all the Guitar Hero 3 chatter this week. I have no idea if Rock Band really will sell through right away and then be impossible to find all winter or not, so perhaps I overreacted a little. Besides, I was probably going to wait and see what the DLC model looked like before I made the investment, anyway. Still, I'd be happy never having to wait in line for a video game (or console) again.
Rock Band will be in short supply, says EA CEO [GamesIndustry.biz]

After playing the demo yesterday at Best Buy with some random smelly teenager, I am sold on how freakin' awesome this game is! I had a blast pounding away on those drums while playing "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash...
It's a good thing I put in a $50 preorder for the game two months ago...
Yeah...I preordered...but for God knows what reason, I'd totally be willing to wait in line for the game, as long as it was a midnight release. I seriously can't imagine the game selling out right away, but then again, the drums might take a while to actually make
This is why Joe doesn't pre-order, nor listen to "short-supply" hype. It forces the company to MAKE MORE FUCKING UNITS/COPIES!
Unless it's completely and utterly worth every ounce of energy I put-forth... like the Wii. :)
/that was the coldest night of my life
We have a interview about Rock Band that we did with EA recently, I think there is info about this: http://www.thegamereviews.com/article-32-Rock-Band-Interview-with-Brent-Dady-of-EA.html
