Mike Newell Set To Do The Prince Of Persia

Mike Newell ("Four Weddings and a Funeral," "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire") is to be offered the opportunity to direct the film adaptation of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The production is backed by both Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer (you know there will be a bajillion explosions). However, things won't start rolling on the project "until after the upcoming actor's strike next June is worked out."
The script is being penned by The Day After Tomorrow scribe, Jeffrey Nachmanoff." With all of these names involved, I have a glimmer of hope that the adaptation won't be terrible, but mildly entertaining at the very least. What do you think?

*starts bets for how many exploding horses (instead of cars) JB will try to cram into the movie*
All-in-all, it's one of the games with the most cohesive narrative, so (in theory), it should make for, at the worst, a fun popcorn-action flick....
...again, in theory...
another good thing ruined by hollywood
ugh. I don't enjoy Mike Newell's bland milk style of film making.... especially how he handled Potter after the amazing Alphonso Cuaron was able to blend this sense of quirky personality but also this humanity that we can all relate with.
