Latest Non-troversy: The Wii Zapper
We have been coming off Manhunt 2's wave of controversy the last week or two (Manhunt who?) and more recently the ripple that was the Mass Effect lady-on-lady throw down, and I for one didn't expect to hear any grumblings this week. But when I saw the non-troversy monster is rearing its ugly head yet again, only this time the focus isn't on a game, but an accessory. Nintendo is launching it's Wii Zapper tomorrow, along with the inconspicuous pack-in Link's Crossbow Training, and they may be taking a little heat from a few consumers who consider the plastic accessory to look a little too much like a sub-machine gun. The toy gun controversy has been around longer than I have. I can appreciate their concern, but I can't help but wonder what resolution they would propose? If Nintendo threw their hands into the air tomorrow and declared that the Wii Zapper would not be sold, would there be any demonstrable effect? My guess is probably not, although the argument makes for an interesting read.

Oh whatever. I'd be more interested if it looked even more like a gun. Sadly, it looks kinda lame to me... Not sure if I'll bother getting it. :(
Hm, over here they actually sell a Wii accessory with much the same function that actually has the look of a gun. And I don't mean like how this looks vaguely like a sub-machine gun if you squint real hard. I mean it actually has the appearance of a gun. It's not by Nintendo themselves though.
Anyway, is this thing out now or what? The GayGamer store has it listed as not yet available. When is it due?
It releases Monday, November 19th here in the US.
