Capcom and Sony To Do A Resident Evil 'Animated' Feature
Remember Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within? Well think back to the Aveda-conditioned and Ghd-straightened perfection of Aki Ross and her interstellar comrades as we bring you news of another Sony-backed animated feature, this time following the exploits of those mucky pups over at the Umbrella Corporation.
Variety reports that Sony Pictures Japan and video game studio Capcom are teaming to do a 3-D computer generated animated feature titled "Biohazard: Degeneration" which is based on the "Resident Evil" games and films. The "Biohazard" title is in reference to the Japanese series. The animated feature is scheduled for a release in the second half of 2008.
It will be interesting to see what comes from a new work based both on the Milla J. action film series and the videogames. I secretly hope that, should they go for the hyper-real animation stylings of the Final Fantasy film, they keep the gritty feel of power-peasant-shooter Resident Evil 4. A hero with perfect hair simply wont do when chainsaws, pick axes and religious fanatics are predisposed to separating your head from your shoulders. I cant wait to see how this turns out.

this could either be good or bad. Considering Capcom tends to make the game cinematics very bullet time and ninja kicking crazy like the current Paul WS Anderson films. Still, it would be exciting if they did something more Japanese horror style or something with a bit more personality, because the in game cinematics on the gamecube are already good enough to be seen in theaters.
