Halo 3 Killing Ben Stiller's Career?

Right. You know how Microsoft was touting Halo 3's launch day sales of $170 million as the "biggest day in US entertainment history?" And how the first week of sales racked up over $300 million in sales? Well, film executives are blaming the success of blockbuster videogames for the lackluster performance of meant-to-be-blockbuster films, like The Heartbreak Kid.
Apparently, Hollywood insiders expected the Ben Stiller/Farrelly Brothers comedy to make around $25 million, but it only pulled in a meager $14 million. They figure that since the audience for the film is the same as Halo 3 (young males), the game bogarted a good portion of the box office takings because the audience in question stayed home to frag.
Personally, I think that sounds pretty plausible. I mean, I know I'd much rather play an awesome new videogame than watch another crap Ben Stiller movie. Actually, there are a lot of things I'd rather do than watch another crap Ben Stiller movie.
Halo 3 Blamed for Poor Hollywood Box Office Results [Daily Tech]

i think Ben Stiller's been doing good enough on his own killing his own career that he doesn't really need help from Halo 3.
>_>
How about the more likely that even the trailer looked like a poor ripoff of moments from Something About Mary and Meet the Parents?
'Cause I think Macy's had there "lowest prices of the season" sale going on. I'm sure that had a lot to do with it too.
Wait, also, my neighbor had their big moving blow-out yard sale...

For those of you not aware, welcome to the blame game of the Western hemisphere. "What do we blame for our problems?" I prefer the Eastern hemisphere philosophy of "What do we do to fix the problem? (and if we have time, I guess we'll identify who to blame)"
hee hee, the movie industry really has some really high expectations when they just slap out a trailer that blurts out random inconsistent scenes without any real idea why anyone would want to go see this film.
By the way, I think more people are watching Dancing with the Star then actually playing Halo 3, why doesn't Hollywood pick on Dancing with the Stars as damaging the film industry?
