Video: Eiji Aonuma Speaks on Phantom Hourglass
After having played the Japanese version of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, I'm rather shocked at some of the things that Eiji Aonuma had to say. In an interview an MTV correspondent, Eiji speaks about being the Producer of the latest installment in this series. An "unintentional remake" of the original Zelda, he says that the game became this way as the result of wanting to return to the series roots, in style and playability. It picks off approximately three months after the end of the (in)famous Zelda: The Wind Waker, Link must rescue Tetra after being taken away by a mysterious Ghost Ship.
Personally, I don't know what the man is talking about. The game felt nothing like the original except for maybe it's perspective. The story, world and play control are all very much unique to this title and it could not be more fun. Eiji also discusses competitive WiFi play which will be included in the title. I love the game, and will be buying the US version as well. It is beautifully styled and the touch only interface makes you wonder why they have not used it before.
