Halo 3 Limited Edition Scratched Disc Alert!

Anybody heading out to pick up their copies of Halo 3 tonight might want to inspect their package carefully on the way out. At least if you're planning on dropping $70 on the limited editon version of the game.
According to GameDaily, they've already encountered three separate copies of the limited edition copy of Halo 3 with scratched discs. Apparently, the nub that holds the disc in place sucks, and the disc tends to roam freely inside the packaging, scratching that itch. They do admit that the scratched copy they tested booted up and appeared to play normally, it's better to be safe than sorry. I mean, could you imagine the game freezing up during the end of the game? Yikes!
The standard edition and the $130 legendary edition don't use the same tin casing, so if you're cheap or have money to burn, you'll be perfectly fine. But if you're picking yorself up the limited edition, you might want to pop it open before you leave the store. Good luck!
Halo 3 Limited Edition Marred by Disc Scratches? [GameDaily BIZ]

After seeing this, I opened mine at the counter to find some nasty gashes on the disc. The helpful people working there ended up letting me open 6 other sets before telling me they were shipping the rest back the microsoft and gave me the option of a refund, a regular edition, or the least scratched set. :/
Microsoft needs some new package designers, since once you open the case it's easy to see why discs fall out.
Is there a disc replacement program set up yet?
Yes, boi, there IS.
I contacted GameStop, and with my unique situation (I bought the only Limited Edition in the store that WASN'T pre-ordered), they couldn't give me a new one, but they would swap the game with a regular edition, then give me a website address to get the bonus disc replaced. I think her reaction was funny "ooo, yeah... we got an e-mail about this earlier..." :))
I assume she meant they're swap my game disc, and not the entire game (since they wouldn't be able to replace the sleeve, the metal case, nor the special game booklet or the hard cover Bestiary that the LE brings), but I've yet to confirm that... I don't want to make too many personal calls at work (yet I have no problems visiting a homosexual-oriented website... go figure!), but if you go to the website below (which I found myself... the internet is mah bitch, fer realz), you can RMA your own Halo 3 disc for FREE until the end of the year. Details in the form.

However, I plan to RMA my disc in the store, just so I don't get any nasty suprises during the last chapter or during multiplayer... I'll RMA the bonus disc, for I'm sure with my gaming style I won't beat H3 in 2 weeks (the quoted turn-around time). Like hell I'm going to wait another 2 weeks to play the game by RMA'ing via mail order... the lady offered (was authorized by whomever she got her e-mail from), so I'm taking her up on it.
I work at an entertainment store... after we closed last night I bought mine.
Scratched. Grabbed another. Decimated. Third one? Fucked up.
I kept going until I reached the 6th one, which was scratched lightly enough to be buffed out.
