Rumorama: Metroid & Super Metroid On Wii VC?
It's been 13 years since Super Metroid, and I still haven't recovered. At a whopping 24-megabit cartridge, it was the largest game on the SNES at the time and it remains a perennial nominee for best-games-of-all-time lists and awards. Therefore it's hardly a stretch to say that both Metroid games would be exceedingly well-received if they found their way to the Wii. And speak of the devil: a super-sleuth NeoGAF poster found recently-uploaded images of both Super Metroid and Metroid on the US Virtual Console server.
Does this portend the arrival of both legendary games on the Wii's Virtual Console? It's a far cry from an official announcement, but it might be time to start getting your hopes up. After all, we knew it was only a matter of time, right? And with Metroid Prime 3: Corruption in the pipeline...
