Lost Planet Update and New Maps

The lovely folks at Capcom have announced an upcoming update on august 16th for their action title Lost Planet. The update will upgrade the engine to take advantage of DX10 for the PC. The improved features include improved geometry shaders increasing the depth of field, motion blur and fur shading. Also included in this update is a a basic chatting system with four default messages to allow players to communicate in-game, at the results screen as well as in the lobby.
Additionally, Map Pack #2 for the PC will be released with a beefy download size of 400Mb. It includes the following maps:
- Battleground: an abandoned town scattered with rubble from ruined buildings, featuring indoor/outdoor areas with multi-level vantage points.
- Lost Technology: a throw-back to the good ol' days of pixelated 8-bit gaming (pictured).
- Ruins: ancient temples set amidst a lush jungle; and
- Ice Drop: a frigid glacier with lots of peaks. nooks and crannies.
The xbox 360 will also receive the same maps, distributed as Map Pack #3. A connectivity update will follow in the next consecutive weeks.








Actually the 360 already have these maps as of June 21st. The news here is that on August 16th the “Lost Technology”, “Ruins”, and “Ice Drop” maps will be FREE for the Xbox 360. Along with a new 360 patch for player connectivity will be out in the oncoming weeks as well.
