FF Tactics: A2 Scans Reveal More Gameplay
A recent influx of japanese magazine scans has gone a long way in answering some questions about the upcoming Final Fantasy Tactics A2 for the Nintendo DS. In some ways a direct sequel to FFTA, the game will also contain elements that seem directly influenced by Final Fantasy XII (although admittedly, FFXII borrowed a lot of the world of Ivalice from the prior Tactics releases).
From the scans one can discern the names of several of the characters, including an evil magic looking girl named Illua that could possibly be the main antagonist of the game. There will also be a Cid character that plays some "leader role" in the game, and also looks to be of a race quite similar to the Guado from FFX. The Seeq will be joining the moogles, viera, nu mou, bangaa and humes from the previous game, as well as a new race of demon-winged and horned people perhaps replacing the eagle winged people seen in propaganda for the FFXII: Revenant Wings game.
The predictable cast of job choices are also highlighted, with samurai appearing to return from the original FFT. The pictures are quite large so you can really get in there and look at all the details so make sure you check them out if you're interested in the game. With a Japanese release date finalized as October 25th of this year, perhaps we won't have to wait to long for our shot at this beautiful looking strategy masterpiece. Hopefully not around the same time as Revenant Wings. I can only handle so much Ivalice at once.

I thought it's pretty obvious that Cid is a male viera?
No, Cid (and Lezaford, the old sagacious man from the new scans) are actually Rebes, who made an appearance in Bhujerba in FF XII (although more cat-like than Cid and Lezaford).
Also, an even newer scan shows none else than Vaan and Penelo (from FF XII) to appear as guest characters in FFTA2 - and *gasp* Vaan wears a shirt under his vest!
Looks pretty cool! Loved the original Final Fantasy Tactics, had some issues with Tactics Advance (mostly with how items were equipped/bought/sold) but it was still pretty darn fun. Hopefully they will update and change some of the minor annoyances from Tactics Advance, that would be so cool.
