Xbox 360 Elite Shipping With New Heatsinks

Ben Heck, modder extraordinaire, took an Elite 360 apart to take a peek at what was inside. He discovered that there's a new method getting rid of the heat that doomed many a GPU in 360s everywhere:
Here’s a good view of the heat sink area. The CPU ’sink is the same as before, because we all know the problem was with the GPU. Now not only is there a heat pipe going over the GPU but the material the heat sink is made out of seems different as well - it doesn’t feel like aluminum. (Originally it was a fairly generic aluminum heat sink that would honestly look more at home in a 486.) Maybe I can get NASA to scan it for me, or maybe who cares as long as it works?
A 486? Ouch!! I don't know If I'd be so cruel...OK maybe I would. Still, It's great to see that Microsoft is continuing to fix its mistakes and make good on its promises. Let us hope that future owners and those who send their systems to the repair center in Texas receive these upgrades which will lead to fewer bricked systems and/or Red Rings O' Death! If you want to see the grisly pictures, follow the link to Mr. Heck's website.

I have a friend whose Elite died within a week of her getting it. The system still seems to have significant problems.
I very much appreciate an article like this because I want to know how MS is improving the 360. However, I REALLY REALLY want to know when the 65nm chipset will be rolling out (more specific than fall).
I'm holding out on buying an Elite because of this.
