Persona 3 Official Website Finally Goes Live

p3website.jpg

After checking every day continuously for the last month or so, I'm elated: the official Atlus Persona 3 website has now gone live! If you can't tell, I'm ridiculously excited about this one. It combines all my favorite things: emo teenagers with varying modes of fashion, j-pop, animation, level building, a myriad cast of characters, demon alter-egos, and social "town (high school in the case of this game) development."

Sure, P3 is a PS2 game, but it looks like Atlus has given it the royal treatment and there is a lot to be excited about. Everything has been localized with care, from the complex menu system to the hours of dialogue the game has to offer. The website has tons of videos with scenes from the game (I purposefully avoided watching most of them to preserve my gaming experience), so it also seems clear that they have redone all of the voice acting in English as well. Although some of the voices have that age-old anime style dubbing issue of overacting, it still looks and sounds like Atlus did a good job in picking voices.

There's a ton of characters, but my two favorites have to be Junpei, the adorable class clown with boundless energy, and Akihiko, heartthrob and head of the boxing team. I don't know what high school has boxing, but let's not ask any questions. Check out the "Heartthrob" video under Akihiko's character profile for a hilarious moment ripe with potential homoerotic tension that makes Junpei and his baseball cap even cuter.

I have my game pre-ordered so I can get my hands on the deluxe Art book and soundtrack that comes with it. Considering the small numbers of releases Atlus is usually guilty of, maybe you should too.

God dammit, am I gonna have to finally break down and pick up a PS2? It has all the great gay games! The little heart above the guy's head in the "Heart throb" video? haha so cute!

I'm just as excited for P3, just apparently not as well informed D:, is the preorder with the art book anywhere or somewhere specific?

Sorry to ask, I feel so foolish...the only official website I can find is in Japanese (which I am not too fluent in). I see the picture that came with the article has the front page of the site, but in English. Is there an English site? If so, can you help a brother out with a link?

That's nice and all, and Persona 3 has my attention too... But where's all your Sony news?

Is the heart just supposed to signify happiness or does Junpei actually like boxing dude? I wonder if that's supposed to be intentionally gay?
They're adorable either way. I'm buying this.

Junpei is *not* gay for Akihiko. There's very little gay lovin' in this game guys. Sorry.... :/

Thanks for the links, guys...it does look pretty obvious now that I see it. This does look like a lot fun...and I bought my PS2 so I could play "Bully". Guess I'm going through my second childhood.

Is this just another case of America screwing over gay Persona fans (like they did with Persona 2), because I seem to remember reading you had the option in the Japanese version to have a gay couple similair to how you could do so in P2.

BTW, I can't get into the website. I get to the firstpage, but all I see is the background. What I'm guessing is an interactive menu or intro isn't showing up. Quite possible related to the fact that for some reason I can't see any Youtube videos anymore (that includes all the gametrailers posted here). All I get for those is a white screen, though I still hear the audio.
Does anyone know how I can solve this? I'd be ridiculously gratefull if someone could help, because it's really annoying.

No. It just wasn't included as an option in the game. Your main gripe should be with AtlusJP who didn't see fit to include that.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
