E3 07: The Wii Zapper
Nintendo has finally done it! At today’s press conference it was announced that Nintendo will be making it’s own first party zapper. It will hold the nunchuck and the Wii remote in a device that will allow you to hold the gun with two hands.
After having played Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles with the Wii remote and the nunchuck separately I can see that it will be much easier to aim. As a funny side note Reggie never once said the words “gun” or “shoot” ; you were using the zapper to zap zombies and aliens. It should also be noted that “Zapper” is currently a working name.
The Zapper will retail for $19.99 and will apparently come bundled with a gamed although that game was not revealed at the time of the press conference.

Um, typo? The Zapper costs almost as much as the console?
especially as it appears to just be a piece of plastic the standard controllers snap into.

I don't know about this...
While it does seem like it would make the Wiimote easier to aim for shooters, what with it being gun-shaped and all, I'm a little wary of having the nunchuck stuck in the stock like that. For something like Umbrella Chronicles, which is on rails, you don't do much navigating. But for an FPS, how awkward is that going to be to move?
