Tony Blair Throws Totally Neutral Opinion Into CoE vs Resistance Ring

Outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair dodged more than questions about some silly, immaterial war this week, opting instead to lob an utterly lukewarm non-answer into the escalating problem the Church of England has with a fictional war. That would be the war between Allied forces and the alien threat known as Chimera, found in Resistance: Fall of Man.

Now, I know you might think it's strange that such a presumably humanitarian organization as a church would care more about pixels than thousands of young men and women fighting and dying in an illegal and unnecessary war, but you've got to remember: churches that care about people are, like the battles in Resistance, fictional. In real life, churches care about intellectual property and picking fights with video games to avoid addressing the big evils that might actually dismember you and your loved ones.

Where was I? Oh yes - Tony Blair was asked the following very leading question by Manchester Central MP Tony Lloyd:

"Would the Prime Minister agree with me then that when Sony used images of Manchester Cathedral as part a game which extols gun violence, this was not only in bad taste but also very, very insulting to not simply the Church of England, but people across the land who think it's inappropriate that big corporations behave in this way?"

Mr. Blair, ever one to wiggle his ears at a molehill, waffled thusly:

"I agree with my honourable friend. I think it's important that any of the companies engaged in promoting these types of goods have some sense of responsibility and also some sensitivity to the feelings of others.
"I think this is an immensely difficult area, the relationship between what happens with these games and its impact on young people," the prime minister went on.
"I've no doubt this debate will go on for a significant period of time, but I do agree. I think it is important that people understand there is a wider social responsibility as well as an interior responsibility for profits."

See? It's important for people to understand the issues here. Unlike ending dependence on foreign oil, ceasing the destruction of our global climate, or balancing globalization with global humanism, this is an issue that actually matters.
