The Great Character Poster: Translated!
So, remember how we posted on that amazing poster featuring just about every game character ever? In case you missed it, it was amazing. No, really. It was. But it was in Russian, which meant that most of us dumb Americans couldn't read it because we're waiting for the rest of the world to catch up and only write in English. However, we can now rejoice because faithful reader Ben Hill has provided us with a translation of all the writing in the image via a friend. Props to Ben for showing us some love, and props to Ben's friend for giving the us the list; check it out after the break.
There's a lot of text on the poster, so I'll just start at the top left, and go across to the right in rows.1. The top says "Navigator of the Game World 2005". It's a magazine here in Russia. Their website is gamenavigator.ru
2. The woman with the picket sign says "Men are Pigs"
3. The guy buying the t-shirt says "Damn Capitalist!" (I can't make out what's on the t-shirt though, it looks like a name "Drulko" or "Arulko"? It's not a Russian word)
4. The bucket by the posters simply says "glue"
5. The dog and rabbit (Sam & Max), are saying "There, Petey, we're in disguise!"
6. The words by the people getting shot are just sounds "ta", "Urg! "Yok!"etc.
7. The word on the sign is not a Russian word. It says "Escave" but I think they meant to write "Escape".
8. The girl holding the sign next to the "To Dublin" girl, says "Vegas". It's written in English with a Russian "G"
9. The legless alien in the robot is speaking English "Follow me" and the answer "OK"
10. The sign where people are standing in line says "Hello, we are looking for talented people"
11. You can probably figure this out yourself, but it's Russian written in Latin letters "A Clone / Not a Clone"
12. The signs near the round metal safe door labeled 13 say "No Trespassing!", "We don't give" (Kind of like "We don't give a shit" and "fuck off"), and "Get Out", and the door mat is written in English "Welcome".
13. The zombie guy's sign says "Will work for implants!"
14. The crying girl is walking towards the "Exit" and she's holding a paper that says "Expelled!"(the rest is in English, and it's "PC - Only and Forever". The magazine only deals with PC games, since game consoles are not popular here in Russia (I don't know a single person who has one), and almost impossible to find games for them. In fact, the magazine is against all consoles. You can see here.
15. Below her, the masked guy with the sword says "No, It is I who will show you the dark side of the Force!"
16. The three people holding the sign, "Let's ruin the reputation of the cult game developer (majorly)"
17. Below that, the guy is simply saying "Phew!"
18. And the last bit on the bottom right which doesn't make much sense to me, "Here will be all the glories of the Wizard"

hmmm... no console games in old russia? ;( Somehow i kinda knew it... All the caracter in the picture are from pc games or pc ports.
That's awesome! Props to the man for translating it for us. I love that poster.
Also very interesting to know that there are no consoles in Russia. I would suspect that it's because there's no free stuff for consoles, but there's a huge free universe of materials for PC gaming.
