Nippon-Ichi, Making Some Changes
Ever since Nippon Ichi Software made it's sister NIS of America based in Santa Ana, California, I've had the feeling that they have high hopes for their US fan base. Considering the massive flow of strange and independent games that flood the japanese market, creating an early niche here in the states is smart all around, especially as the number of otaku seems to be growing exponentially since I was a loner child desperately seeking large, limpid eyes.
In a recent release on the FujiSankei Business site, NIS announced that they will be released 12 games this fiscal year. Crazily, seven of them will be released here in the US and five will be brought to Japan, with many more titles coming out on Nintendo based platforms than ever before. Expectations by the company are high, too, with an expected 50% increase in sales up to 300,000 copies.
I for one am excited about the idea of playing an NIS strategy RPG title on my DS. Although nothing is official, I'm hoping we'll get the recently announced Atelier SRPG for the DS, with an incomprehensible title something akin to a mongrel child of Japanese and French: Lise no Atelier: Ordre no Renkinjutsushi. Using my secret piratical powers, I think it means something like Atelier Stories: Alchemical Order.

Ok, I just creamed my pants. GayGamer owes me a dry-cleaning bill.
Aterlier Lise: Alchemist's Order
Lise being the name of the protagonist or a major central character, as is the trend in most Atelier games :D
