He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named Goes After Halo 3

Seriously, how long did you think it would take before this happened? The fabulously designed GameAlmighty has been copied on a letter from Jack Thompson: Ace Attorney that was supposedly written and sent to Mr. Microsoft, Bill Gates, himself! In the letter, he refers to Halo 3 as being "hyper violent" and he threatens to force Microsoft into making sure that the game makes its way into the hands of individuals ages 17 and over. ...but it doesn't stop there, not only will he pursue Microsoft via "appropriate legal means," he'll pursue "all retailers of Halo 3." Thems fightin' words.
So, it's Jack Thompson vs. Corporate Colossus, Earth, et al! This should be both interesting and highly entertaining...if the letter was sent. Take it with a grain of salt, but it does indeed sound very Jack Thompson-ish. The letter, after jump. Go on, read it!! He blames the D.C. Beltway Sniper incidents on Halo!
The letter reads as follows, and I quote:
Bill Gates Microsoft Corporation Redmond, WashingtonRe: Halo 3
Dear Mr. Gates:
As you know, the Federal Trade Commission has repeatedly found that games rated “Mature” by the video game industry-captured Entertainment Software Rating Board are routinely sold to kids under the age of 17 despite the age rating. The most recent failure rate of the ratings on “Mature” games, according to the FTC, is 42%. The entire rating system is a fraud, and “broken,” the latter description aptly provided by Senator Hillary Clinton.
As you also know, Lee Boyd Malvo trained on Microsoft’s Halo to further enable him to become the remarkably efficient “DC Beltway Sniper.” That was reported by NBC News at the time and was noted in Malvo’s criminal trial.
You appeared on CBS’ 60 Minutes II and rather revealing and usefully noted that “the cool thing about these games is that they transport you to a world you think is real.” Precisely. Capcom has recently disclosed to investors that your video game industry’s violent games, sold to children, pose a real hazard to the health of the industry. Right on.
The hyperviolent Microsoft Xbox 360 game Halo 3 is scheduled by your company for commercial release in September of this year. The Beta version that was released last week shows us all just how violent the game is and how inappropriate it is for play by anyone under 17, as the “Mature” rating it will surely receive indicates.
Here’s the deal, Mr. Gates: Either Microsoft undertakes dramatic, real steps, through its marketing, wholesale, and retail operations to assure that Halo 3 is not sold, via the Internet and in stores, directly to anyone under 17, or I shall proceed to make sure that Microsoft is held to that standard by appropriate legal means. I have done that before successfully as to Best Buy, and I shall do so again as to Microsoft and all retailers of Halo 3.
Regards, Jack Thompson
He is a brave, brave man. Or maybe he just doesn't know any better and is a complete idiot? I'd say the latter is true. I have a feeling that he's messed with the wrong company and that he will soon be disbarred...if he doesn't mysteriously dissappear into the night, first. You know, Redmond has some pretty thick woods and Florida has some pretty deep swamps....
Jack Thompson Lays His Sites On Halo 3 [GameAlmighty]
[via CAG]

He's a STUPID man. Period.
Remember when Supergirl tried to fight Doomsday by herself?
This is will be a reenactment
at this poibt i imagine a huge highway...
jack thompson is a small, annoying Lizard bugging everyone around... and into the picture comes Microsoft, a giant 16 wheels truck....
ROADKILL!!!!!!
This is it! He finally took on too big a target! M$ is good at nothing if it isn't a behemoth that will destroy JT.
I'm personally wondering if his letter could be construed as attempted blackmail.
So like... can he just be put into an insane asylum already?
what a dumbass. as you said, i really like how he wrote that Lee Boyd Malvo trained with Halo. that is a huge toilet log right there. as well as Jack Thompson himself.
Woa, I mean come on! That's like a big target! And don't forget the fan base! It's an attorney against an armada of tea baggers! *Shivers*
Oh I can only imagine the reaction once it is officialized and made public. You know there will be reaction from the masses, especially since it is so well known about how many "teens" (or so we'll call them according to ratings) play it and they have less self control against such a reaction.
