Etrian Odyssey Website: Chock Full of Treats

Etrian Odyssey is the new game you haven't heard is coming out for the DS from my favorite obscure japanese game distributor, Atlus. It's the kind of game you didn't think was possible in this day and age: a first person dungeon crawler, and you use the stylus to draw the map yourself. Battles are played out kind of like the old Dragon Quest games, you control your characters through menus without ever really seeing them in battle. But really, I think it's going to be fun.

Character design is absolutely top notch, and since you don't get to see your party much while in the dungeons, it's a good thing that you get to see it in full display in the menu screens and while visiting towns and the like to gather items and equipment. There are five character slots and nine different classes to keep things interesting and individualized. The official website is full of further information and has a great quirky humor and world setup that makes me love the game even more. They even have a mini comic to explain all the character classes!

I'm looking forward to it... hopefully, I'm not the only one.
