First Impressions: Super Paper Mario

Super Paper Mar...damn those Elebits are everywhere!

When I got home yesterday afternoon, there was a lovely white envelope waiting for me from the good folks at Nintendo. I opened it and out popped Super Paper Mario! After squealing with glee for several minutes, I popped it into my Wii and started playing.

I'm now a bit into it and I have to say, I'm already in love. The graphics are sharp and as cute as ever in the tradition of the Paper Mario series. Being a platformer with RPG elements is actually very refreshing. I think it freshens up the Mario series in a way that has been long overdue for this old plumber. ...and the flipping to 3D ability? Freaking. Awesome. You can even have a circle of mini-NES Marios around you who jump with you and can take out enemies. The original jump and death sound are used for that added bit of nostalgia...tis' nice.

After putting the finishing touches on another review I have going on, I'll be playing Super Paper Mario all weekend and will bring you a review on it soon! In the meantime, my first thoughts are that it's definitely a keeper.

I am insanely jealous of you right now. I'm thrilled you love the game though. I was going to get it anyway, but now I'm even more excited!

do I buy this or save my $ for Smash Bros.?

I'm so jealous! I can't wait for your report.

Steven, since Smash Bros probably won't be out for half a year, go ahead and get Super Paper Mario!

Timsy, I curse you for getting the game early. No fair!

I still want a full blown Mario RPG again. Maybe even with Square's support, you know like have a cutesy version of the Gambit and ADB systems! SPM still gets a gold star from me for being able to play multiple heroes ala SMB2!!

YEY!!!

Another Wii game ported from the extinct Gamecube's original lineup...

How blinded Ninty's fanboys have become goes beyond any reason

Aw Tufas, don't have the playa, hate the game! Or, in this case and in Zelda:TP, realize that even if they started out for the Gamecube, the developers had the foresight AND the relative ease to transition to the Wii platform.

I await my copy of Super Paper Mario with delightful anticipaaaaaaaaaation!

This is the first game that I have pre ordered in a very long time. I absolutely cannot wait.

Zelda was finished by FALL 2005. The full year (and a couple m onths) we had to wait was so the Wii could have a system-seller in the absence of Mario. Or do you think it took 14 months to implement Wiimote movement? This is not developer foresight... but Marketing Dpt. foresight

For once, Nintendo is making a lot of people happy with the DS and Wii and getting a lot of our non gamer friends involved too! Why wouldn't we sing it's praises?

Long Live Nintendo!

I watched the 4 Hour Marathon Gamespot had for this game...I Loved it. I have to buy it as soon as I find it. A must own.

I would have picked this up on launch day had it been a Gamecube game, and I certainly will be picking it up as a Wii game. Same with Zelda.

Still waiting for that photographic evidence of currently unbought Wiis on the shelves in Portugal, Tufas, if you really want to talk about who's a fanboy.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
