Disney Allows Gay Fairy Tale Weddings

If you've always dreamed of getting married at Walt Disney World under the grandeur of Cinderella's castle, now Disney will allow everyone to have that experience, if they so choose:
Disney had allowed gay couples to take part in its vow renewals program but excluded them from buying wedding packages by requiring a valid marriage license from California or Florida, which do not permit or recognize gay marriages.
Previously, Disney allowed gay couples to hold commitment ceremonies only at the resorts; they were not able to purchase its Fairy Tale Wedding package, which holds its events at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
"We are updating our Fairy Tale Wedding guidelines to include commitment ceremonies," Disney Parks and Resorts spokesman Donn Walker said. "This is consistent with our policy of creating a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment for all of our guests."
Interestingly, just last month gay website AfterElton.com had cracked down on Disney for not including same-sex couples on the special wedding and honeymoon package.
Now everyone can shell out $8,000 to exchange Mickey-approved vows.

That's a beautiful story Panda, thanks for digging that one up. It's wonderful to see Disney recognize that they have a huge gay following, and ensuring their comfort within the resort.
As soon as I find someone to marry I will... not consider having the ceremony at a Disney facility. Seriously, there's something wrong with people who want to be wed by a guy in a costume of a cartoon character.
It's nice that they changed the policy though. Hooray, Disney!
Many of the top people at Disney are gay.
Over the years Disney has taken much flack (and been boycotted) by evangelical groups in the States (I'm in Canada) for being too gay-positive.
If they don't include gays in any wedding packages it's not because they don't want to - it's because they're afraid what would happen if they did.
Regardless, Disney promotes a mono-culture (OMG so does gay culture!) that will always lead to vilifying the outsider.
You know what would be completely and utterly awesome?
If the US Disney weddings had these dresses, then this news would mean that we'd see some great Disney Princess pairings!

oh my god best news story ever, maybe a podcast topic!
haha
everyone knows the real gay days, are in september when all the kids go back to school, and you can stay at any disney spot for like 5 dollars, never wait on line for a ride, and hit up epcot for the international food and wine fest, while Survivor rocks out with the fireworks on the hour.
A couple of my friends, (who are, in fact, a couple) proposed at Disney. Right in front of the castle. Surprised the hell out of the proposee!
When the proposer was doing it he asked the photo girl if this was allowable, she said "Sir, this is Disney. We make dreams come true here"
Then she cleared the area so they would be the only ones in the photo.
