Delicious Grand Theft Auto IV Details

When the trailer hit, most of our kingdom dropped their knitting needles for a sec to watch the wonders of Grand Theft Auto IV. Shortly after, the forums and fansites lit up with speculation and possibility surrounding the short teaser trailer. There were few concrete truths to go by, until now. Fortunately GTA4.net posted a solid rundown of all of the info that will be printed in the next issue of Game Informer magazine.
Here’s the skinny:
- The game is set in Liberty City in 2007, but is much bigger than the Liberty City of GTA III.
- Rockstar has recreated 4 of the 5 boroughs of New York City, as well as part of New Jersey. The map will be smaller than San Andreas, but is more detailed than any previous GTA title.
- More realistic pedestrians, who sit on benches, smoke cigarettes, read books, and so on
- More freedom in your missions. You will be taking orders from people for your missions, but now you can call up people and see if they want to hang out. There are more options present than just the missions available in previous games.
- There will be multiplayer features in GTA IV. The game is not going MMO, but Rockstar promises something that will go along nicely with the single-player game.
The multiplayer addition is an interesting development. I’m curious as to how they will implement it in the game. Expect more revelations before the game hits store shelves in October.

I love the 'Heart Stopper' burger billboard ad. That's right in the line of the satiric humor you'd hear on the radio in-game. I just hope these don't get changed out for in-game advertising by actual companies down the road.
My new boyfriend is on the cover of that issue of Game Informer by the way. (Always wanted to say that, doesn't make it true. :cries softly:)
WOOT! Part of the dirty (Jersey) will now be recreated in videogame form! I can die happy now that my home state is recreated in pixels...oh Jersey...
