9 Minute Speedrun of Maniac Mansion
Fruit and I were talking today about our love of Maniac Mansion. He’s been playing through the original version, and we were discussing the myriad of ways through the game. What to do first, what not to do, like enter the kitchen in the beginning of the game, unless you are ready to go to the dungeon. This was the first adventure game I ever played. I did manage to nab a copy of the Nintendo version before they censored the hamster blood in the microwave. If you don’t know about putting hamsters in the microwave, do not try it at home. Just grab a copy of Maniac Mansion and nuke the stuffing out of the little bastard.
The game is genius, it was a staple in my NES back in the day. When Day of the Tentacle came out, I had to stop for a few days to play through Maniac Mansion, which was included in the game. I would love to see another adventure game of this type in the future. There were so many possibilities even when you started the game. The crew you picked determined the type of ending you could get. My favorite was when you got the meteor to write his life story, and he ended up on the talk show. You had to call the Meteor Police ahead of time, so they bust into the talk show and arrest him, like a veritable Sally Jessie moment. It was beauteous. Sit for a spell and enjoy a 9 minute speedrun of one of the best adventure games ever created, besides Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom, but that's another story.

Woot, Maniac Mansion, that was always a fun game, to bad you couldn't put the hamster in the microwave in the NES version though, well, some versions.
Maniac Mansion and Zak McCraken are two of my fondest memories of my old Commodore 64.
sigh, my fond memories of 1989.
but that's just 1 ending, what about calling the space police? Or getting the Metor on David Leterman parodey show? And then there is killing off your friends. Sigh, Maniac Mansion how much I love that game, sniff sniff.
