5 Minute Super Mario Bros. Speedrun
For your late night viewing pleasure, I bring you a speedrun of Super Mario Bros in about 5 minutes. It’s pretty spectacular. This player is lightening fast. The game is boiled down to memorization, and tight response time. I’ve seen some people run the entire time that they play, but this one doesn’t stop for a fraction of a second. To slow Mario down a bit on the jumps, he presses the opposite direction slightly to make him jump backwards. Check it.

I'm gonna have to say this is most likely a tool assisted run. certain jumps and things are a bit too perfect. sorta like the SMB3 one where the guy beats it in record time.
That was amazing, I was on the edge of my seat thinking he was going to die. That was stressful.
it is most likely tool assisted. Which there's nothing wrong with. Still fun to watch.
AFAIK this one is done using an emulator. Not quite the real deal if you ask me, but a good job nonetheless...
it's probably emulated, but it's still cool anyways...
i dont' know why people are so quick to shoot this down as being real... i think it is... there are times when the person slowed down for a sec to go back... case in point with the beanstalk... i think someone out there has a good memory and was able to time all of this correctly... some people are just that good
I assumed this was going to be a toolassist as well at first... but if you look at the picture quality carefully, the image suffers from the imfamous NES 'dot crawl' and poor color. It's especially noticable on areas of high contrast (like text) and the question blocks. It's hard to be certain since it's a youtube video and they could have used a TV mode filter, but it's extremely likely that the video is authentic.
Tool assisted? Look at 1:09 remaining
I'm not saying it's not, but there's a screwup and slowdown there where he gets caught on the flag base rather than jumping directly into the flag.
