New Rise Of The Silver Surfer TV Spot
In case you don't watch TV, or own a TiVo unit and merrily ignore all commercials, Marvel has posted their latest TV ad for the upcoming Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer on their official website. Even though it's been over a year, the memory of seeing the original Fantastic Four movie still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. It was so bad that the even the lesson in mediocrity that was the tie-in game was a vast improvement. And, for some reason, enough people shelled out money to see Jessica Alba in her skivvies that a sequel is barreling down upon our hapless planet; set to plow into theaters this summer. Based on how some of the effects shots in this latest TV spot, I will say that it looks like Rise of the Silver Surfer could be a much better movie than its prequel... but, then again, a lot of historians have said that the second atomic bomb was "better" than the first.

Honestly though I think the first one, in hindsight, wasn't as bad as we all think. Especially when you compare it to the first x-men. I think they are very comparable in terms of quality. The problem with any first superhero movie is the time spent on the orgin.
I have high hopes that FF2 will pull the same sort of reversial that X2 did.
Besides in the first film the only thing they really screwed up (in my opinon) was Susan and Doom. The other characters I felt were accurate.
Personally I think F4 was much, much worse that the first X-Men film. It seemed to be in a bubble where movie comic book characters hadn't moved on and become more savvy and intelligent. (Like the first X-Men film.)
Chris Evans burning his clothes off helped a fair bit though...
well so many people complained about the writing but the first x-men movie had bad writing too. Anyone care to remember that whole "what happens to a toad when lightining hits it?" line.
That being said the x-men movie was better simply because the x-men are better :p
Totally agree about Storm's bizarre dialogue. Apparently Joss Whedon is supposed to be responsible for the toad line... must of been one of his few bad days.
Chris Evans is terribly cute...
And he makes a slightly homo-erotic joke in the trailer! Win all around!
I always thought the first film was cute.
Anyway, what actually has me rather excited about this new movie is that it isn't trying to downplay the face that Silver Surfer is indeed a cosmic entity. I couldn't STAND how the Phoenix in X-Men 3 was downgraded to nothing more than a whacked out mental disorder! F THAT!
I bet Venom in Spider-man 3 will be nothing more than an evil cracked out sweat stain. Haha!
Not to beat a dead horse but Chris Evans *swoon*
@ Essex: I disagree about the first x-men movie. Not only can Singer do no wrong but the movie perfectly serves it purpose that being setting up the conflict in X2.
As for F4/2 it will bet it is better than the Hulk.
