New Mortal Kombat Movie In The Works

Actually, it won't be a sequel or prequel, but a restart along the lines of Batman Begins (which I really love). This is what 'insider' Rayden had to say:
“The movie is not going to be a prequel, sequel, or in any form be related to the previous 2 movie. Pretty much like Batman Begins, is going to restart the series with new concepts, stories, etc.“Threshold had to wait till around early 2000 for the contract with New Line Cinema to end (Threshold blames New Line for the disappointing Annihilation, talking about forced release dates, limited budget, no understanding of anything, etc.)
“The reason it is taking so long is the script, so many parts are involved. The team at Threshold (the ones that holds the right to MK) are constantly writing drafts (along with the director), which they have to send to Midway (makers of the game) so the creator of the game (Ed Boon) adds notes and some input to the draft, then to the studio (rumored to be Lionsgate at this moment).”
So that's that...and whatcha' think of it? The originals are admittedly kraptastic, but I used to take guilty pleasure (when I was in high school) and watch them whenever it happened to be on TV...ok, you now have permission to ridicule me.
Mortal Kombat movie series rebooted? [Movie Hole]
[via Dark Horizons]

Don't feel to bad, loved the first, haited the second.
Skeez!
I actually really like the first one, the second one is a stretch, but still entertaining.
I think the old ones are so bad you HAVE to like them :)
I also like the first one. It has nothing wrong with it that isn't wrong with every other production in its genre (Hollywood fighter infused with a dash of faux Chinese culture): bad puns, silly enemies, Newtonian plot. If nothing else, it's great because it knows it's campy.
Annihilation is godawful. It starts out budget Lord of the Rings and ends up Godzilla vs. Mothra. But it's great fun at parties.
like you are the only one who does that...
i watch them on tv when ever they are on too...
talk about guilty pleasures..
they might be crap, but who cares, its fking mortal kombat
The first one was great. Nothing craptastic or whatever about it.
Annihilation was horrible though.
Honestly, why do they think anyone is still interested in Mortal Kombat as a brand? It was popular in the SNES days because it had a lot more blood than Street Fighter II. That's it, it's done with. Let it die.
MORTAL KOMBAT MOVIE ALL OVER AGAIN.
Just as the first Mortal Kombat movie was good, the TV series wasn't real good
but the movie is getting rebooted again
starting from begining.
MK movie director Mink is working on the movie as he is saying it will be like Batman Begins.
So we would have to get use to it.
Thank You.
