I Am 8-Bit Showcase

Check out the creepy cutie clutching her blocks (whose letters seem to be the initials for DNA base pairs...ooh, a "building blocks" motif!)... Margaret Keane would be proud of this Tetris-themed painting, part of the "i am 8-bit" exposition, a preview of which is on display here at GDC. It's a fantastic effort, and the sample of works on display are truly beautiful - as is the concept:
The award-winning i am 8-bit group art exhibition showcases at GDC 2007 on March 5-9, 2007, Upper Lobby, North Hall, Moscone Center. The theme is simple -- over 100 artists put their old-school 80’s gaming memories to paint, ink, sculpture, plush, and other bizarre mediums all in the name of pixels! It’s an experiment in interpretation, shining a spotlight on an era when games were dominated by character. i am 8-bit is the voice of a generation that refuses to let the blips and bleeps fade away -- and it’s a GDC exclusive!
I slipped past heavily armed security guards, performed some of Tiny's Patented Acrobatics to evade a weave of swinging laser alarms, and used the camera embedded in a false tooth to steal some samples of game-inspired art for you, dearest bloggees.
Make the jump to see the loot.

Wow, this art is amazing!
I love every piece. Thanks for posting!
Was it hosted by Nintendo or something? Where's the sega themed stuff?
Master System FTW!!
nobody knew about the master system till they learned about emulation.
(nobody being 11 percent of the population)
