GDC 2007: Getting Friendly With GameJew

I arrived at GDC a few days before things will really get started - just to pick over the leavings of the Serious Games and Mobile Gaming Summits. So the last thing I expected to see when skulking out of the press lounge was a pair of red overalls: joy! Amidst the swarms of developers, VIPs and a smattering of press folk, Jonathan Mann was easy to spot. After geeking out and demanding to get handsy with the GameJew on camera, (he donned his cap for the occasion, yay) we spoke a bit about the early days of the conference - which feature all-day tutorials for developers...the really fun stuff starts on Wednesday.
The GameJew and his one-man film crew were hot to track down one of the "yellow shirts," the interns, veterans, and assorted others who act as guides, governesses and guards for the conference. Otherwise, today looked a bit spare, press-wise. One thing we did agree would be worthwhile is checking out the two simultaneous keynote addresses - one by Square Enix's Ichiro Otobe concerning serious games, the other about mobile gaming, given by EA co-founder Trip Hawkins. Here we split, since I had a hankering to hear what the mobile peeps would be pushing...but more about that later.
Be sure to check out GameJew's new digs over at, well, www.gamejew.com!
