EA Forms Record Label

junkiexl.jpg

Exactly why Electronic Arts feels it needs to get into the music industry is beyond me, especially since iTunes joined forces with them such a short time ago. But, hey, if our beloved despots of the gaming world want to get involved with actual musicians and turn their art into a series of microtransactions, who am I to criticize? Oh... wait.

Well, I can at least make fun of the name that EA and Nettwerk One Music came up with for the new music label: Artwerk. The label's already signed Junkie XL, the guy who remixed Elvis's "A Little Less Conversation", which doesn't really surprise me since he's had a bunch of his music featured in various EA titles. I'm still trying to figure out if EA's entry into the music industry is a good thing or not, but I guess we won't know for sure until more artists get signed and provide feedback regarding their experiences.

Sounds like a good thing to me. EA has always had some great music in their games.
