Wii Play Commercial
I was all excited to pick up my copy of Wii Play on Tuesday, so it was with a heavy heart that I left my local video game store when I was told to come back on Friday for the next shipment. Which worries me, because they only had copies for those who reserved them and I unsuccessfully tried to put one on reserve back in January.
Until then, a strange commercial/trailer for Wii Play will have to suffice. Sure the game looks fun, and I would like to see the mechanics of how one holds the remote, but do they always have to use such annoying people? We've got some funny looking teenage girls who frankly seem a little lost, and some 20 something professionals that make white people look kinda scary.
Which brings me to another point. Don't worry Nintendo, you don't have to show us white people playing the game for us to know that it will be fun. I've noticed that since the beginning they've been careful to show us good looking caucasians having a blast, but I can just as easily see myself playing a game no matter what race the people presented in it are. And where are they picking up these people besides? I'm having flashbacks of the kind of people I dealt with when working at a fancy mall in the OC here, and that's not a pretty sight.

'Kay.
I love the look of fierce determination on the boy playing the bubble game against his mom.
The vaguely porno-ish music is a bit off-puting as well.
Hey now, there is one girl who looks like she's maybe 1/4 black on her father's side, who is in a very brief clip near the end. Now that's diversity!
Didn't the actual Wii console commercials have a pretty diverse audience represented? I seem to recall black, white, asian and even *gasp* fat people! No word on latinos though...
sob. my people get no love. and i think that commercial was just the japanese one.
