The Lost Resident Evil 4 Footage
Ok, so it's not exactly "lost", more like "unused", but here's a little treat for all you Resident Evil 4 fans out there.
This footage was from an earlier build of the game that never made it to fruition, called The Hooked Man Version. Some footage of this version was shown at E3 in 2003, but was eventually scrapped because it was thought to be a bit too esoteric for the already established Resident Evil storyline. Most of the action took place in a spooky mansion filled with classic haunted house tidbits like scary suits of armor and monster baby dolls. The title of the build came from an enemy called The Hooked Man, seen towards the end of this clip, who made multiple appearances throughout the game, much like earlier uber boss, Nemesis.
I'm fairly positive that this clip was taken from the Japanese only Biohazard 4 Secret DVD since it was the only other place besides E3 that any portion of this version of the game was ever made available to the public. The kicker to the story is that RE4 director, Shinji Mikami, thought this version was so terrifying that he actually warned gamers "Don't pee your pants".
I thought RE 4 was terrifically scary, but that said, I'd love to play the pee your pants version. Who wouldn't?

RE4 was decent, but didn't have that Resident Evil sorta feel. It was more of an action shoot-up. This version looks way better in my opinion.
More like "RE4: Things Constantly Jumping Out At You Version"
Wow...the graphics look like they would have been even better than what we actually got (real shadow maps and better lighting). I like how the lighting changed when enemies appeared, and I love the "analog stick/L R button" grappling input. That would have been better than the Active Time Event things they put in the final game, if you ask me...I hated those parts.
Those little dolls would have gotten on my nerves, though...
As much as I loved RE4, I'd like to play this, just to see how it was.
Silent Hill 5: Resident Evil 4?
RE has always been more about action than creepiness, this version would have touched too much on SH's turf.
I wanted to see this version, because it seemed to be more scarier and to go in a great direction from the screen caps and the trailers I saw of it.
Then they scrapped it and I was greatly disappointed.
That was AWESOME!! I wish all that stuff was in the game.
looks okay, but i think RE4 is the greatest game ever made, and wouldn't change anything about it.
to me, RE4 is the "CASINO ROYALE" of the RE series...new, fresh, and totally reinvented a somewhat tired series.
That is so freacking scary. i would burn the game.
