White Council Cancelled?

Thanks to an “anonymous source”, 1up.com has revealed that EA’s upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The White Council has been cancelled.
Under the condition of anonymity a source revealed to 1UP that the ambitious, licensed, RPG that was to be Lord of the Rings: The White Council is no more.
That’s literally the only real news to their story, which has raised more than a few red flags in regards to honest-to-God journalism. No other details are given regarding the cancellation, other than EA has no comment at this particular time. If you’re going to report a rumor, do me a favor and at least offer up some actual information to back it up.
Personally, I have a tough time believing that EA would actually go ahead and cancel a LotR game with as much anticipation as The White Council. Getting rid of a game that’s as much of a potential cash cow as this doesn’t make any sense, especially since they were willing to release the piece of drek that was Superman Returns on every console.

It’s so cute how you think EA’s decisions on which games to greenlight have anything at all to do with their quality.
I mean, come on, it’s EA.
Please note I said “potential cash cow”. I have no faith in EA to make a decision based on quality: with them, every decision seems to revolve around getting them the most amount of money with the least bit of effort.
