The Best Dreamcast Games for Today

Racketboy has posted a list of the best Dreamcast games for today. I have to say I am happy that I have a few of these in my library. Especially Power Stone, Rez (I also have it for the PS2), Soul Calibur (even though I’m not very good at fighters), Ikaruga, Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II and Rayman 2. I wish Rival Schools was on there, it’s so much fun!

Follow the link for the full article and list. Any games that aren’t on the list that you think should be?

Reading through that list reminds me of why I love video games. Jet Grind Radio, Ikaruga, Bangai-O, Rez, SF 3rd Strike, Chu Chu Rocket… these are some of the best games I’ve ever played. Each one of them attains true greatness. They are so perfectly FUN and challenging that they make me proud to be a gamer. Ah, the Dreamcast.

I’m happy to say I have several of those. 3rd Strike continues to be my all-time favorite fighting game, even though the timing on the DC version is off (the PS2 and Xbox versions are more arcade-version-accurate). Bangai-O is amazing, as is Ikaruga, and I enjoyed Rez a bit.
Never was a huge Soul Calibur fan, but I can understand it being on the list.

What do you guys think of the chances of some of these games coming to the WII vc?

If they were to figure out a way to put Dreamcast games on the VC I’d dance naked in the streets.

I actually re-bought a brand new Dreamcast last month. Went over to eBay and got Sega Bass Fishing, Le Mans, Soul Calibur, Jet Set Radio, Sega Rally 2, Trickstyle, Skies of Arcadia and Grandia 2. Im now looking for something better than that SCART connector (VGA sounds good not all games support it though).

I will forever hate Sony for their spin doctors killing Dreamcast with their false hype. Not till VERY late in PS2’s lifecycle did we get something close to Soul Calibur, a launch title on DC.

Keep wondering if Sega shouldnt’ get back into the hardware business with some open source, low-royalties machine.

Cheers
T.

I totally have 14 of those 20 games. Dreamcast = Boner.

The list was based on the Dreamcast games that still have fresh gameplay years after their release. Sonic Adventure feels clunky now. The only stages worth playing are Sonic’s, while the rest are tedious.

Wii is the new DC.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
