Sim City DS Import Footage
Here is some great Simcity DS footage from the Japanese version of the game. No word has come from Nintendo about an English port yet. Many Simcity fans are hoping for a translation, since it would be a great title to add to the library of DS games.
Simcity DS is actually a port of Simcity 3000 for the PC. It is actually a reworking of the game, to utilize the touchscreen. They have added minigames and an advisor to the mayor, to help with the development process. There will be three main game modes: Build a New City, Save the City, and Sister City. I imagine that Build a New City will entail starting a city from the first shovel breaching the ground. Save the City should be a disaster style gameplay where you have to survive natural disasters and such. Sister City could be a head to head version of Sim City where two people compete against each other, or help one another.
The touchscreen interface looks intuitive, a staple from the first Simcity game. Including minigames keeps the game from feeling too dated by following current design choices. Simcity DS just seems like a natural fit for the DS. Porting this title stateside would bring all of the closet Simcity nerds to the street, so they can wear their nerddom like a geek badge of courage.

You know...I was never a huge SimCity fan...but that looks like it would be a lot of fun.
It does kinda look like fun. Anyone else notice that one avatar/helper guy looked like Will Wright?
That closely resembles SimCity 3000, I'm a huge fan of the SimCity series. Once I sit down in front of it, I'm gone for hours. That's why I try not to start it up on weekdays and only on weekends. ;p
ooh... i would love to have this gamee....
I knew that the DS would be great for these types of games. Playing SimCity on a console is an exercise in masochism, but the stylus really enhances the experience.
Now can Firaxis get going on a version of Civ for the DS? Please?
