Rumor Mill: Brand New Ghostbuster Game Coming

Grab your proton cannons and warm up the Ecto 2, footage of a brand new Ghostbusters game popped up on YouTube this weekend. The footage comes from developer Zootfly, who has worked on a few Xbox and 360 titles as well as PC games.
Here’s a rundown of the list of clips:
1. Here we have the Ecto 2 screeching across the city streets.
2. For the fashion-conscience driver, the Ecto 2 now comes in a variety of colors.
3. A rather plastic-looking Peter Venkman uttering those now famous words at a press conference, “Who you gonna call?”
4. Most importantly, gameplay footage of a ghostbuster running through the city streets, fighting phantoms with his proton gun.
From the looks of the footage, this game is in the early stages of development. Who knows when we will get a definite answer about this game, release date or whatnot. What we do see though is potential. I love the proton gun gameplay footage. It looks pretty solid already. The low camera angle during the running scene, highly reminiscent of Gears of War. This time we have a really low angle during the running, showing off the beautiful city skyline and making the city loom over the character like a foreboding entity to overcome.
What do you think? How does this footage stack up with the history of Ghostbuster games for NES, C64, Genesis) and Arcade? They have always been pretty good. I played the hell out of the C64 one back in the day. Outfitting and upgrading the Ecto 2 was great, along with the strategy involved in capturing the ghosts. It was pretty involved for an early game.
Ghostbusters Game Materialises [Games Radar]

Oh. Hellz. Yeah! Aside from the people looking a bit off, I’m all about this. Using lines from the movie is pretty hot, but it’d be awesome if they got some of the original cast to revamp their roles. Undead FTW!
I likes me some Ghostbusters, but why does it all look a bit too serious. You know, sorta SWATBusters or Ghosts of Honour? Missing a golden chance for a humorous FPS, maybe?
And where’s the trapping? I mean, sure proton packs (Wii please) and don’t cross the streams, but I gotta steps me on some trap action.
I think I may be developing a grump complex.
And that’s why you don’t show pre-alpha video footage – your’re creating wrong assumptions or an overhype that might kill your game in the end. Everybody loves Ghostbusters, but I gotta agree with GLH – we don’t want Ghost Busters Advanced Warfighter, and now it’s in our heads…
I really hated the C64 game. But I used to leave it on when I’d leave the computer, just because the music was so annoying and the rest of my family was afraid to turn off the computer.
These videos are merely proof of concept videos. Just something to show people to say, “Hey, we can do this.” Zootfly actually did have something to say about it though and it can be read here: http://www.joystiq.com/2007/01/16/zootfly-scares-up-ghostbusters-details/
I really hope this game gets made. looks like it could be alot of fun!
