Geometry Wars Developer Announces Next Game

EA is swinging onto the Xbox 360 Live Arcade with a new title developed with Bizzare Creations, the creators of Geometry Wars. Boom Boom Rocket is a music rhythm game featuring fireworks and music by Ian Livingstone. Any relation to Sandy Sandstone? Woof!

From the press release:

In Boom Boom Rocket, players trigger rockets to the beat of the music while traveling through a 3D cityscape. The better the player times the explosions, the more spectacular the fireworks effects. The fireworks are choreographed to 10 original tracks created by Ian Livingstone. Players can play in single player mode or go head-to-head against a friend on the same console.

It sounds a little like the much-underrated Fantavision on the PS2, but set to music. (BTW the 2 player mode in Fantavision featured some terrifically diabolical gameplay.) Timing a fireworks display to music, sounds like a great time. The particle effects should be spectacular, just take a look at Geometry Wars and you can imagine what this game might look like.

Geometry Wars is amazing; I'm still addicted to it. But... a fireworks-based rhythm game? Ummmm...
