Final Fantasy Anniversaries: FF1 & FF2 Remade For PSP

Famitsu magazine, I love you again. Not only did this story lead me to a sweet-looking FF7 yaoi manga (pictured here) up on eBay, but also to what seems at first glance like a Final Fanboy's wet dream: A remake of Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II for...for...for the PSP!
I just about junked my trunks when I heard that, scout's honor. The new games, entitled Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition and Final Fantasy II Anniversary Edition respectively, come replete with new dungeons, a monster database, and an Amano gallery mode - which sounds like it could be gorgeous.
No word yet on what form these remakes will take, but given the popularity of the 3D Final Fantasy III remake on the DS (still loving that game) and the fact that the word "remake" was specifically mentioned, it isn't outrageous to hope for a similar do-over for the PSP games. Oh, Final Fantasy on my PSP, it's about freaking time! Apparently the games mark the 20th Anniversary of the Final Fanstasy franchise, which took place on the 18th day of December past, year of our chocobo 2006.
Both games will be available sometime this year in Japan, and if a stateside release doesn't follow I will publicly immolate myself. For real this time, no more stand-ins.
Also, check out the manga pic for what looks like a possibly homoerotic panel showing Cloud and Sephiroth...maybe it's just wishful thinking...
