Beware Wiis Bearing Friend Codes...

Aww, man. I thought for sure that Nintendo had learned its lesson from the DS and fixed its absurdly complicated Friend Code system, giving the Wii hardware its own 12-digit number and letting games use that code rather than requiring, as does the DS, a Friend Code for each game with a multiplayer option.
While still not truly friendly, the Wii Friend Code system at least reduces the amount of arbitrary numbers you’ll have to deal with just to play, right? Well…maybe.
2old2play reports that the first “truly multiplayer” Wii title to be released in Japan, Pokemon Battle Revolution, requires its own separate Friend Code. Boo.
The wise 2old geezers use their ancient knowledge of stuff to point out that the rest of the known universe vastly prefers easy-to-remember lettered networking systems over numbered systems (their examples: domain names vs IP addresses; 1-800-MATTRESS vs whatever that is in actual digits), which is why you can remember dozens of XBL gamertags or email and website addresses but not your needlessly abstract Friend Code.
And that’s the argument against having only one of the little f*ckers. Having to acquire and input multiple 12-digit numbers to enjoy your game is a pain in the ass, plain and simple. It’s unfriendly, and Nintendo is all about being friendly. So what’s the deal?
Check out the complete smack-down at 2old2play or cool your heels here and share my Friend Code misery…or, if you’re game, explain why Nintendo didn’t take the cue from Xbox Live’s accessible, friendly, easy-to-remember format: names or numbers, which would you choose?
Wii: Friend Code Nightmare [2old2play]

Aw man! And the worst thing is that ninty was doing such a great job… until this comes to bite us in the ass!
AAAHHH!!! Noooo!!! Nintendo, you had the most beautiful, compact, and friendly system with u. and now u go and mess it all up. AAAH!!!!
Wow it’s so weird to see everyone up in arms about this. I didn’t have a problem because a) this frees up my Wii friends list a bit, and b) I like having my Poképals in a separate category. Am I not thinking this through here? (Actually I’m shocked there are other people here besides me who even play Pokémon games.)
I’m still hopeful that it’s just because “WiiConnect24” wasn’t working yet during the development of the thing with the Pokemans.
Isn’t pokemon a DS wifi game?
If so then it makes sense that you will need an extra list of friend codes for the game, the same one you had to battle other people on the ds via wifi.
Stop being so dramatic.
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are both for the DS. Pokémon Battle Revolution is for the Wii. And both games have connectivity with each other.
