Wall Street Big Wig Loves Wii

The Wall Street Journal, as many of you know, is a huge deal…even larger than that is the word of Walter J. Mossberg. Kotaku cites Wired as having said “few reviewers have held so much power to shape an industry’s successes and failures” and he “makes or breaks products from his pundit perch.”
At any rate, he basically tells us what that cutesy faux Wii commercial told us a while back, PS3 is pricey, Wii is cheap, PS3 is hardcore, and Wii is peppy…and for casual gamers.
Here is a snippet of the article he wrote, yesterday:
“None of us felt that the game graphics, or the Blu-ray movie playback, were superior enough to the Xbox 360’s graphics and DVD playback, to justify the PS3’s heftier price. None of our four volunteer testers said they’d buy the PS3 at $600.”
SNAP!! Will his words of wisdom doom Sony’s PS3? If he is taken as seriously as people say, possibly. At any rate, it’s not good for Sony for such a high profile individual to speak against their product and can only mean good news for the Xbox 360 and definitely for the Wii. Mossberg is definitely one of the more influential tech reviewers in the mainstream press, if not the most, but he’s always been wildly pro-Mac and I don’t think it’s had much bearing on Apple’s market share. (Well, maybe for the iPod.)
Regardless, it can’t hurt Nintendo for him to be so overwhelmingly positive towards the Wii, and it can’t help Sony for him to poop on them like that.
Uh.. You are a writer, and you can’t spell definitely?
Thanks, peach. :-)
