Rule Of Rose Coughs Politiely, Dies In UK
Until recently, 505 Games had defended its creepy and suddenly controversial horror game, Rule of Rose, which had suffered under criticism from Walter Veltroni, the mayor of Rome, as well as Franco Frattini, European justice and security commisioner. 505 had challenged its critics to actually play the game, which was after all judged to be suitable for release by two ratings boards: PEGI and the Interactive Software and Video Standards Council.
But today, the intended launch date for the game in the UK, saw Rule of Rose lift her ginger head from her sickbed, ask after the weather, and very quietly expire. No Rule of Rose for the Brits, it seems:
“Following discussions with our retail and publishing partners, 505 Games has taken the decision not to publish Rule of Rose in the UK at this time.”
It’s a shame, because RoR is a game chock full of the kind of imagination and innovation (and, apparently, satanic lesbian child torture…but who’s counting?) that the gaming industry thrives upon. I certainly hope that talent isn’t extinguished and, of course, any of our UK readers are more than welcome to bring a can of Hobnobs over to my place and settle in for a dark, sweaty session of controversial horror. Followed by a little Rule of Rose.

Videogame boycots are really going overboard.
And the most irritating thing about it is that it’s mostly based on false info. Bully wasn’t anything like what the critics said. And whether or not RoR is anything like what they say doesn’t matter.
No one forces people to buy it, but those that want to should have the right.
Censoring sucks.
