Retro Controller Realness On the Virtual Console

The Virtual Console has certainly been a well received feature of the Nintendo Wii, offering gamers the opportunity to play through some fantastic classics such as The Legend of Zelda, and Bonk’s Adventure. There are a few controller options to play VC games. You can plug the classic controller, with it’s miniscule 2” cord, into the Wii Remote. A Gamecube controller can be plugged into the top of the console, but it would be a pain to use that directional pad for more than 2 minutes. The third option is to turn the Wiimote on the side for simple button configurations. No matter how you configure it, purists still want the feel of the original controllers for NES and SNES games.
Your wish has been granted, RetroZone has made two adapters to allow players to plug their original NES and SNES controllers into the Wii’s Gamecube controller ports. For $19.99 you can have a slice of retro cred to add to your delicious arsenal of gaming geekiness. Get into this, and enjoy the original feel of these hunky old artifacts of gaming history. Yum!
Break out the retro, folks [Wiifanboy]

Shipping early 2007. Boo :(
Oh hell yeah, and I just happen to have some SNES controllers sitting around the house. :D
I honestly don’t mind the Gamecube controller’s d-pad 9that’s what I went through Resident Evil remake and RE0 with), and I love the Classic Controller.
Damn neat idea from a “retro cred” standpoint, though.
Amazing! You think they’ll be compatible with European machines though?
Excellent! I still have my SNES controllers stashed away at my parent’s home!
The early 2007 date isn’t so bad though. By the end of 06, there will only be 2 SNES games on the VC. For the NES games, I actually really like the Wiimote.
or, you can spend less money in an ebgames if you are lucky and pickup one of these, which plus into a gamecube prt and i have never had a problem with it
