Gears of War Released Yesterday...Today In Some Cities! UPDATED

Yesterday, the spawn of Cliffy B.’s model-esque loins emerged from boxes and onto store shelves! ...and from what I am seeing around the tubes of the internet, the reviews are very very good. This according to Gamespot , 1-UP, friends and many other sources.
Some friends in different cities picked up their pre-ordered copies for themselves. I went to the Riverwalk, here in New Orleans, and what did I find!? NOTHING! No Gears of War for Super Timsy or, so it seems, anyone in the New Orleans metro area. Not even the Best Buys had it. Hmmm, I asked a couple of friends who live elsewhere and it seems that some stores had it, others didn’t.
I’m hoping to pick up my copy, today, and unleash the Hammer of Dawn upon my friend, Jimmy. Then again, if my EB buddy’s response of, ”...we might get it tomorrow,” is any indication, I may have to wait another day…we’ll see. Did any of you run into this issue, yesterday?
At any rate, a game with such fantastic reviews and high recommendations from friends is definitely worth waiting for!
UPDATE So, the Collector’s Edition still won’t be out until tomorrow. I got the regular edition that actually made it here, today…hope to exchange it for a CE version (which contains an art book and a DVD with an inside look at the making of Gears of War, the “Art of Gears of War” trailer
, & Gears of War: The Race to E3).
In addition to that, some of my far flung friends in places like Topeka, KS; Portland, OR; and various other towns/cities, have said their local game/electronics stores have yet to receive the CE edition or even both copies of the game. I wonder what is going on with the shipping around the country, might they have not made enough copies of it or were they just a bit screwy on shipping it out? Or is this maybe just being a bit overblown because it’s the most hyped-up game of the year? Whaddya think? Actually, the manager of two local game shops blamed FedEx saying, “They really screwed us over this time.” The world on time, indeed.

Picked up my copy last night after work. Sooo shiny…
I am consumed with jealousy!
It looks like another first person shooter with a ridiculously over macho main character. What am I missing? I know it’s something important because the reviews are amazing.
It was the same deal here in Michigan, which also happened when Marvel Ultimate Alliance came out. Poo on EB/Gamestop for having such screwy shipping.
Daland and I co-op’d the game tonight Timsy. It was frakin’awesome. Hurry up and get your damn copy so we can play!!Oo!!
Pink, from what I could glean from Dan Hsu’s oddly less-than-glowing 10/10 review, it’s just amazing to look at and controls great. I couldn’t tell what made it so impressive that I would need to buy a 360, though.
